MCPAP - Psychiatry

What it is: MCPAP stands for Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program. As their site states, it is a "system of regional children's behavioral health consultation teams designed to help primary care providers and their practices to promote and manage the behavioral health of their pediatric patients as a fundamental component of overall health and wellness."
Ideal Audience: All residents - especially if interested in primary care; attendings.
How to access it: Go to their website, easily found via search engine as well.
Why it's great: Specialty psychiatric care support for pediatricians throughout the state. They aim to provide support for pediatricians by helping with:
- screening, identification and assessment
- treating mild to moderate cases of behavioral health disorders according to current evidence-based practices
- making effective referrals and coordinating care for patients who need community-based specialty behavioral health services.
How much time to budget: You could spend hours, but if you have one topic in mind you'll probably need 15 min to an hour.
Other thoughts/comments/advice: Go to the Provider tab on ther site. There is a list of Diagnostic Resources, including topics ranging from anxiety to conduct disorder to substance use. Each topic has various resources including "clinical pearl" sheets, current guidelines, up-to-date recorded lectures, patient/family handouts. Seriously, it's amazing.
